We test devices as a normal buyer would set them up: factory reset, a fresh account, the maker's own app. We record where the device sends data and how much. Every device gets the same method and the same time window. We describe what we saw, not what it means for your company.
Before an episode goes out, we send the maker our results 7 days ahead. A reply that arrives in that time is part of the episode.
If you make a device we tested, you can send us a statement. We add it to the device page as written, with the date, and mention it in the next post about that device.
A good reply says why the device sends what it sends: a feature, a health check, a setting a user can change.
If a number or a statement on this site is wrong, tell us what and why. We check it against our own capture. If you are right, we fix the page, note the correction with its date at the bottom, and keep the old number visible as corrected.
If we find a security problem, we report it to you privately first. We publish only after it is fixed or after a deadline we agree with you.
[email protected]. Please name the device and the page.
